O’dea High School Joins the Association

Renton, WA – Today O’dea High School became a full member of the association.   After years of back and forth, O’dea High School officially announced its intent to form a volleyball club.   They will participate in the upcoming 2014 fall season.  Jose Martin, the person spear heading the initiative was elected to the board as well.  This brings the board up to 4 members, with one more open position left, the board is starting to take shape.

Also instrumental were the parent organization and the other staff at the school that were in favor of starting the club.

The full press release can be found here.

Curtis High School Added as a Member School

Today, the association welcomed Curtis High School to the volleyball club family. This the third school to officially form a club to compete in the upcoming fall season. Credit goes to the students at Curtis High School, who also are a part of the USAV South Sound Volleyball Club, especially Johnathan Carson and his father Rusty Carson. Rick Todd former varsity volleyball coach and avid volleyball supporter, also helped along the initiative.

Now the association will look to the Summer Tournament open to all who want to play this July 25th at Heritage Park. Also a big portion of its time will be to develop the Western Washington Qualifier Tournament and then the subsequent playoffs.

Club/Select Volleyball Opportunities

Lots of Information in one Post, also we have updated the calendar:

Puget Sound Region Boys Volleyball Collective

The Puget Sound Boys Volleyball Collective (PSBVc) provides opportunities for BOYS to compete in USAV Volleyball competition at a local, regional, and national level. PSVB was established to help boys in the Puget Sound have an avenue to play the sport they love.

We are dedicated to providing quality training, and competition at a local, regional, and national level. This competitive athletic experience can enhance social development, contribute to mental and physical health, and teach the values of teamwork, responsibility, self-discipline, and self-motivation.

PSBV is the effort of several clubs to build a platform for boys’ volleyball in the state of Washington. Athletes will be able to train in a local facility with once a month group practices to bring all the boys together for competition training. It is our goal to help the sport grow to where every club will have a successful boys program.

It is our sincere desire to provide a solid foundation of fundamentals to enable participants to develop, not only as players, but also as people. Given this base, we hope that these youths will continue playing well beyond their youth, for volleyball is truly a lifetime sport.

KSD Elementary Volleyball Tournament 2014

Rolling 9 Deep
Rolling 9 Deep

The Kent School District has a tournament every year since 1969 featuring an unusual format but seemed to work for the participants: 9 man volleyball. Not all the schools fielded a full team. This year the tournament featured 5 schools: Lake Youngs, Meridian, Crestwood, Ridgewood, and Sunrise Elementary schools. This year the event was held at Meeker Middle School.

1st Official Season

Auburn, WA – Today during the bi-annual board of directors meeting Ballard High School was admitted as the second member school.    Mark Prescott, a math teacher at Ballard High School, and Liam Moser, a senior, are credited for putting the club together.  On the heels of the admittance of the second volleyball club, the association announced its first season to start in 2015, featuring a seeding tournament in October and the Association’s Championship Tournament in November.  Brian Boyer, the Commissioner said that other schools could possibly be admitted at the May Board Meeting, but did not give specific details on prospective schools.  Also as part of the meeting Mr. Prescott was named to the third board seat.

Here is the official press release.
